Transport Sector: Chaungwa Bridge For Ayeyawaddy Region And Rakhine State

Chaungwa Bridge construction is underway for connection between Ayeyawaddy Region and Rakhine State.

The Department of Bridge under the Ministry of Construction has been implementing the Chaungwa Bridge construction project located on Ngayotekaung-Gawragyi Island Road, crossing the Chaungwa River.

Upon completion, the Chaungwa Bridge will become a part of Beach Ring Road connecting Ngayotekaung Township of Ayeyawaddy Region and Gwa Township of Rakhine State. Chaungwa Bridge is designed to be a two-lane bridge with a length of 390 metres having 3 feet sidewalks on each lane.

The bridge is being built in reinforced concrete and the upper body will be built in Girder, RC Girder and RC Slabs. The Chaungwa Bridge project started on the 1st of March 2020 and it is expected to be completed at the end of March 2023, according to the Ministry of Construction.
