Tourism Promotion: Plans for year round festivals in Regions and States

A meeting on drafting the annual plans for holding monthly festivals, exhibitions and competitions and ceremonies in regions and states was held on Friday.

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung attended the virtual meeting and discussed that preparations should be made for festivals around the Myanmar Calendar in regions and states to attract tourists.

He stressed to develop other tour packages based on the visitors arrival at the existing traditional festivals. In drafting the annual programmes, food fairs, funfairs and sports events should be included while preserving Myanmar’s customs, traditions, cultures and heritage, which are nearly extinct.

He stressed the needs to create exciting activities, ensuring the safety of food and a safe travel environment. He also emphasized to make preparations for providing proper services to tourists.

The Union minister called for cooperation works in drafting annual plans under the supervision of the relevant governments and regional orders and instructions.
