






Yangon Region Tourism Committee held its meeting at the Region Government Office on August 13. Chief Minister U Soe Thein, who also chairs the committee, led the meeting with ministers, tourism officials, industry experts, and business representatives in attendance.
Discussions included current tourism statistics, improvements in hotel services, and ongoing tourism-related training programs. The government has supported basic hotel service training and plans to continue with environmental awareness and disaster preparedness courses.
The committee approved two new hotel construction permits, three hotel licenses, one motel license, 56 license renewals and services, one guesthouse license, 177 local tour license renewals, 71 international tour license renewals, and pre-approved new licenses for 36 local and 34 international entities.
They also discussed launching a regional tourism website and further development plans. Newly approved hotel and motel projects are expected to bring in about 17.5 billion kyat in investment and create 58 jobs.
