Tourism Industry: Union Minister Joins Development Of Tourism Village Forum

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Htay Aung virtually joined the forum on Development of Tourism Village and Opportunities for the Creation of Village Tourism Products. 
In his address at the forum hosted by Indonesia, the Union Minister said that in Myanmar, there are around 70,000 villages full of natural beauty, Social Organization Participation Policy in Myanmar Tourism was drawn in 2013, there are 46 villages that are implementing community-based tourism (CBT) and the sharing of experiences and best practices on the creation of products of tourism villages will support those involved in the development and management of rural tourism in Myanmar. 
He also stressed that it is important to promote cooperation for the development of tourism villages, to create tours in village tourism activities and establish the necessary standards. 
This forum discussed matters including Tourism Village Development Strategy, opportunities and challenges to promote the tourism village products, experience in tourism village management and the important role of tourist villages in national economic development and poverty eradication. 
Also, Deputy Director-General of the Myanmar’s Ministry of Hotels and Tourism discussed conditions of community-based tourism and rural tourism. It’s reported the forum was held to design and develop joint travel packages between ASEAN member countries, to formulate and develop the necessary standards for the development of regional tourism, to cooperate in the promotion of destinations, to obtain opinions and recommendations on cooperation between member countries and to implement the tourism development commitments.
