Tourism Development: Tourism promotion in Yangon Region discussed

COVID-19 booster shots were administered to the staff from hotels in Yangon Region on 13th July. Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr Htay Aung, together with officials, oversaw the vaccination process.  

The Union Minister later attended the ceremony to present Health and Safety Protocol National Level Plaque to 28 hotels in Yangon Region.

The Union Minister said 1,618 hotels and guesthouses have received the recognition certificates for the region and state level, including 197 hotels and guesthouses in Yangon Region.

For the national level, 189 hotels and guest houses have already received the certificates. The Union Minister urged the hoteliers to apply for the HSP certificate for safety of the passengers and staff as well.

The Union Minister later met with the officials from Myanmar Tourism Federation and affiliated associations, and discussed matters on development of tourism sector.

On 14th July, The Union Minister met with Yangon Region Chief Minister and officials, and discussed the tourism development measures in the region.

The Union Minister and party later attended the opening ceremony of the training on Barrier Free Tourism for the people with disabilities.

The Union Minister said Myanmar Barrier Free Tourism Pilot Project is being drafted, and it includes to provide the basic infrastrutures at Shwedagon Pagoda, Bogyoke Aung San Market and hotels with 20 bed rooms facility and above.

He urged all concerned organizations and departments to cooperate in implementing the project. Some 150 staff from the hotels and guest houses from Yangon Region attended the training.

The Union Minister later visited TRC Vocational Training School, and discussed the issuance of skill recognition certificates and nuruturing the skilled workers in line with the standard of National Skills Standards Association and ASEAN tourism experts.

On the 15th, the Union Minister attended the ceremony to share experience of those who attended the basic training course on International Law and ASEAN Basic Law Training Course No. 1/2022 and Basic training course on cases involving government agencies that are prosecuting or litigating.

The Union Minister said law subject is essential subject, and all are urged to apply the knowledge, gained from the training efficiently in their work fields.
