Tourism and Creative Economy: Seminar by MOHT and meeting with Nepalese Ambassador

The Ministry of Hotels and Tourism organized a Seminar on Tourism and Creative Economy in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday. The seminar aims for development of innovation and job opportunities of hotels and tourism businesses and MSME businesses in Myanmar.

Union Minister Dr Htay Aung discussed to prioritize for development of MSME businesses which are the products of creative economies based on its origins. It could help to create more job opportunities. He added that tourism business is related with various sector, and it also included innovation along with the changing trend of technologies.

The Ministry is implementing the barrier free tourism all across the nation for the convenience of the persons with disabilities, visiting the tour destinations. He stressed the needs to implement the project in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and Myanmar Sustainable Development Plan.

Later in the day, Union Minister Dr Htay Aung received Nepalese Ambassador to Myanmar Mr Harishchandra Ghimire, and discussed matters on operating direct flights between Myanmar and Nepal for tourism development, cooperation among the government departments and private sector, establishing the Sister Cities between Lumbini and Yangon or Lumbini and Mandalay and implementation the MOU on Myanmar-Nepal Tourism Cooperation.
