Tour in Taungoo: Development works and meeting with officials

President U Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by his wife, senior military officers, union ministers and officials, visited Taungoo on Saturday to inspect the development works. They took a special RBE Coach from Pyinmana Station and viewed the beautifying tasks, greening efforts, and agricultural plantations along Nay Pyi Taw-Taungoo Section, as well as the conditions of station yard.

The President instructed for better rail transportation system while carrying out maintenance works to the unused railway tracks.

In Taungoo, the President inspected the chosen site for construction of new Taungoo Station, and instructed for systematic management for long term utilization.

The President and party later inspected the upgrading of Taungoo District Sports Ground, and excavation of Kaytumady Ancient City including the city wall, moat and palace site. They then proceeded to Hna Saung Myaing Village to support the summer paddy harvesting, land preparation for crop cultivation and producing paddy-hush charcoal.

At the local Air Base, the President met with departmental personnel and officials to discuss the development works.

Bago Region Chief Minister U Myo Swe Win reported on monsoon paddy cultivation, crop expansion, flood prevention, soil improvement, and efforts to increase crop yield and food security as well as coffee cultivation, oil crops, MSME development, education, health, rural development, and livestock production.

The President stressed the need to use modern machinery and improve productivity in existing farmland rather than only expanding land while developing coffee as an export product.

Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant also presented plans for a new town development in Taungoo, including transport, government offices, hospitals, schools, green spaces, and public facilities.

The President said Taungoo district will be developed as a special development zone along with Nay Pyi Taw and nearby regions.

He emphasized on expanding agriculture and livestock production, developing MSME and value-added industries, ensuring food security and exports, improving irrigation and water management, increasing education and skilled human resources, and creating more job opportunities and income. He also stressed that economic development depends on productive work, good planning, and proper use of resources. He urged officials to make their regions model development areas for the country.

The President and party later visited Kyun Kone Village in new Kaytumady Town and inspected the poultry farm, operating by Evaporated Cooling System. They then returned to Nay Pyi Taw from Kyun Kone Station by a special RBE Coach.
