Tour in Shan State: Inle Lake preservation and potato cultivation

Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Min Naung inspected the preservation of Inle Lake and greening measures in Nyaung Shwe Township, Kalaw District on 8th February.

During the inspection, officials reported the status of waterway into Lake, utilization of land, construction and maintenance of dam, planting of buoys and posts as well as cleaning of algae, Water Hyachinth and floating islands. Upon reports, the Union Minister gave necessary instruction, and coordinated the needs.

The Union Minister then proceeded to Nadi and Thasi Lakes which were built for preventing inflow of silt into the Inle Lake. He also stressed officials to reuse the silt in agriculture land. The Union Minister also visited Cold Storage of Potato Variety in Nyaung Khar Shay Village of Heho where he met with Potato growers and entrepreneurs and coordinated the matters regarding potato variety production, technique and land utilization. Next, the Union Minister observed potato plantations and provided necessary assistance.
