Tour in Magway: Chief Minister meets farmers and inspects Kwechaung Fort

Chief Minister of Magway Region U Tint Lwin met with local farmers from Pathanagoh Village-Tract on November 6, to discuss ways to increase agricultural productivity in the region.

He urged farmers to use quality seeds, proper irrigation, and modern cultivation methods to achieve higher crop yields and plant multiple crops each year. He also encouraged cooperation with the Department of Agriculture and highlighted the importance of education for rural development.

Later, the Chief Minister and party visited the historic Kwechaung Fort, located near the Ayeyawady River. He instructed officials to maintain and preserve the ancient site and to improve the access road from the Magway-Taungdwingyi Highway to the fort for the convenience of visitors. Kwechaung Fort was built around 1222–1223 with the help of French and Italian engineers and served as one of the key defensive forts along the Ayeyawady River during the Anglo-Myanmar wars.
