


To implement the barrier free tourism and develop the tourism sector, Directorate of Hotels and Tourism under the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism offered a training course for local guides in Bagan ancient archeological zone from 4th to 11th June.
Basic Tour Guide Training Course and Awareness Training Session aims for the tour guides to provide a systematic guide to the pilgrims visiting to the Bagan Archaeological Site as well as to explain the cultural heritage, architecture, murals and historical artifacts of great historical value.
Myo Min Aung, Assistant Director, Directorate ofHotels and Tourism said “In this course, we gave the lectures about the information of lacquer ware, archeology, and first aid for health, topics related to the hotel and tourism industry and travel guides. They also taught how to provided best services to the visitors including greetings, and transportation. We also shared knowledge about Bagan and the ancient pagodas. Based on the history of Bagan, this course aims to ensure the long-term sustainability of the ancient heritages for the future generations.”
A total of 115 local tour guides joined the training which was held for the second time. The trainees also provided the practical lessons on the history of Bagan by conducting field trip to the archaeological site.
