Thingyan Celebrations in Yangon : Families and friends enjoy the water festival

Thingyan celebrations in Yangon are lively and crowded, with many people enjoying traditional music and water festivities across the city.

On the Akya Day on Wednesday, families and groups of friends gathered at the pandals and Walking Thingyan events, traveling by bus, taxi, and on foot to join the celebrations. Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu and officials joined the public at the Walking Thingyan event at People’s Square, participating in the festivities together.

They also visited the pandals where traditional songs and dances were performed, and later joined crowds at the Yangon City Maha Thingyan pandal and nearby streets. Public areas such as People’s Square and Maha Bandula Park Road were especially busy with celebrating crowds.
