Thailand sentences death penalty for 2015 shrine bombing case

A Thai court on Thursday sentenced two individuals to death for their role in the August 2015 bombing at the Erawan Shrine in Bangkok.

The explosion happened at the popular tourist site killed 20 people and injured over 100 others. Prosecutors presented evidence that one of them procured materials and assembled the bomb, while other carried and planted the backpack containing the explosive device at the shrine. Both defendants have continuously maintained their innocence and announced plans to appeal the sentence.
