Thai shooting relatives leave flowers at site

Grieving parents on Friday gathered near the day care centre in northeastern Thailand, where a gunman killed dozens of children and teachers a day earlier. Sobbing family members offered white roses and prayed during a flower-laying ceremony.

At least 36 people, mostly children, were slain in the deadliest rampage in the nation's history. The gunman also took his own life after killing his own wife and child at home. The rampage took place in the rural town of Uthai Sawan in the northeastern province of Nongbua Lamphu, one of Thailand's poorest regions. The massive loss of life left the nation reeling in shock.
