The opening ceremony of the Modern Craftsmanship Training School Project for Textile and Apparel and the Closing Ceremony for the first sewing training course were held at the No. 2 Industrial Training School (Mandalay) in Mandalay Region, on 11th November.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister for Industry U Yin Maung Nyunt, regional government ministers from Mandalay Region, representatives from Guangxi Economic and Trade Vocational Institute (GXETVI), Shenzhen Bok Times Technology and Development Co., Ltd., and Nanning Orient Daytonz Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd., along with school principals and officials from related ministries, trainers, invited guests, and trainees of the training program.
Additionally, Union Minister for Industry Dr. Charlie Than attended virtually from Office No. 30 of the Ministry in Nay Pyi Taw.In his opening remark, the Union Minister noted that the sewing training program, now being launched, is crucial for the development of Myanmar’s garment sector. Since 1979, the Ministry of Industry has collaborated with partner countries to establish vocational training schools to train skilled industrial workers, though this marks the first time a sewing training course has been initiated.
To further develop Myanmar's garment sector, two projects were established with China’s Guangxi Economic and Trade Vocational Institute (GXETVI): Modern Craftsmanship Training SchoolProject for Textile and Apparel and the Textile and Apparel Industry Workers Training Center - Luban Workshop.
The No. 2 Industrial Training School (Mandalay) was founded in 2005 with the assistance from China and has continued to be upgraded through bilateral cooperation. The Ministry of Industry continues to work with China to foster mutual economic and social benefits.
Following this, remarks were given by the Mandalay Region Minister for Economic Affairs, GXETVI Principal Mr. Luo Shengfang, and Nanning Orient Daytonz Imp. & Exp. Co., Ltd. General Manager Mr. Xie Weidong.
A memorandum of understanding was exchanged between Mr. Xie Weidong and the school principal for the continuation of sewing training programs at No. 2 Industrial Training School (Mandalay).A video documenting the project was shown, followed by the awarding of certificates of training completion to the trainees, who expressed their gratitude. Educational materials for the school were also donated by China, along with souvenir exchanges, and a group photo was taken to commemorate the event.
