




Myanmar targets to export more than 160,000 tons of sugarcane grown as a poppy substitute crop to China through the Chin Shwe Haw border gate by two logistics companies, according to the Vice Chairman of Myanmar Sugar and Sugarcane Related Products Association (MSSRPA).
Around 500 trucks carrying the exported sugarcane from Myanmar through the Chin Shwe Haw border gate go to sugar factories of Chinaevery day.
Win Htay, Vice Chairman, MSSRPA, said " At present, transportation routes are reopened for export to China. Sugarcane needs to be harvested and exported within 24 hours. Depending on the sugarcane workers, currently, sugarcane is being exported to China by around 500 trucks every day. It’s operated by two logistics companies. The most important thing is to have better transportation and to fetch fair price offered by China."
Currently, China allows the Myanmar sugarcane trucks directly to sugar factories in China without changing drivers. The sugarcane exported to China are cultivated in Chin Shwe Haw, Shwe Li and Lwal Kyal border areas.
