Stability, Peace and Development: Meeting on Peace and Development in Rakhine State

The Rakhine State Stability, Peace and Development Work Coordination Committee held a coordination meeting (3/2022) at the Ministry of Border Affairs in Nay Pyi Taw in the afternoon on Tuesday.

The meeting was attended by the Committee Chairman Union Minister for Border Affairs Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, Vice Chairman (1) Union Minister for International Cooperation U KoKoHlaing, Vice Chair (2) Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine, committee members, deputy ministers and officials. The Rakhine State Minister for Security and Border Affairs joined the meeting via videoconferencing.

First, Union Minister Lt-Gen TunTunNaung stressed to collaborate to achieve the future work in line with the plans drawn by the work committees for the development of Rakhine State. At the meeting, Union Minister U Ko Ko Hlaing, Vice Chairman (1), spoke on the peace, stability and socio-economic development in Rakhine State, repatriation and resettlement of displaced persons, and international cooperation.

And the Vice Chair (2) Union Minister Dr. Thet Thet Khine also briefed on the current situation of humanitarian assistance and resettlement of the returnees.Afterwards, respective working committees explained the scrutinizing the population, the amendments regarding with the repatriation, cooperation with the United Nations and other international organizations, regional socio-economic development, humanitarian assistance and resettlement issues, and the chairperson and vice chairs of the Coordination Committee coordinated the discussion of the participants.
