Sri Lankan President meets with representatives of Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe met with representatives from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation at the Presidential Secretariat on Tuesday and has discussed the digitization of data in the agriculture sector, a key focus of the government.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe emphasized the importance of continuing the government’s efforts to modernize the agricultural sector, improve nutrition, address climate change, and enhance financial security. 

The officials from the foundation have expressed willingness to support these efforts, subject to the government's policies and regulations on the provision of financial support and modern technology. The proposed establishment of a university dedicated to climate change was also a topic of attention during the meeting.
