Sports Sector: Union Minister attends various sports activities

Myanmar Volleyball Referee Course Completion Ceremony was held at the Stadium in Mingalataungnyunt Township in Yangon on Sunday.

Union Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs, Hotels and Tourism, and Myanmar Olympic Committee Chairman Jeng Phang Naw Taung attended the event, and made a speech. The Completion Certificates were awarded to the attendees of the first volleyball referee training.

The course aims to improve the standard of referees for regional and national competitions. The Union Minister then attended the 10th Anniversary MLWC Traditional Lethwei Tournament opening ceremony at Thein Phyu Stadium, where he officially launched the event by striking the gong.

He also enjoyed the first match and awarded medals to winners. Later in the day, the Union Minister attended the 2025 State/Region Myanmar Thaing (Martial Art) Championship Awards Ceremony at Thuwunna Stadium. Prizes were presented to outstanding male and female martial artists in various weight classes.

Yangon Region athletes won both men’s and women’s team trophies, as well as the overall championship title, receiving trophies from the Union Minister and Yangon Chief Minister U Soe Thein. Additionally, the Union Minister met with officials from Myanmar Billiards & Snooker Federation to discuss preparations for the upcoming 33rd SEA Games, including athlete training, participation categories, equipment procurement, and health measures.
