Songkran Celebration: Royal Thai Embassy hosts the Songkran Festival

The Royal Thai Embassy in Yangon hosted the Thai traditional Songkran Festival 2026 on Sunday.

Union Minister for Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation U Hsan Oo, Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint and their wives attended the festival, held at the residence of the Thai Ambassador in Dagon Township, together with  the Yangon Region Chief Minister and wife, foreign diplomats, UN representatives, and invited guests.

The Thai Embassy’s Chargé d’Affaires welcomed the guests, followed by opening remarks from a Thai Foreign Ministry adviser. Union Minister U Hsan Oo also delivered a speech and formally opened the ceremony by striking auspicious Gong three times. Afterwards, guests enjoyed cultural performances from Myanmar and Thai traditional dance troupes, and visited Thai food stalls.
