Myanmar Youth Empowerment Organization (MYEO) organized a soft skills development workshop at science hall of University of Yangon on Wednesday.

Founded in 2014, Myanmar Youth Empowerment Organization (MYEO) provides courses on digital training, career and skills development through online platforms and hold workshops for youth empowerment since 2017. The workshop aims to raise students’ awareness on opportunities MYEO offers, to build up their soft skills and to have more students’ participation in volunteering activities.

Campus Chapter Director, Myanmar Youth Empowerment Organization, Su Pyae Sone said “This workshop is held as soft skill development training since it is needed for 21st century university students. I would like to advice young students to explore opportunities and participate rather than just building up hard skills by attending classes and listening to lectures.”

At the workshop, guest speakers and trainers share information on scholarship opportunities and knowledge on soft skills such as leadership, time management, self-management, creation, teamwork and public speaking. It also features inter-workshop activities and small competitions.

Student, 1st Year Honest (IR), University of Yangon, Thae Nu San said “This is my first time. I decided to participate as I’m so interested in soft skills. It is better that we will also get certificates at the end. Soft skills are like hidden gems – they shine once they are polished. I think soft skills are needed for the subject I’m studying, International Relations.”

More than 100 students participated in the workshop and most students are from University of Yangon. The workshop is set to be held for 2 days until the 4th of July with 2 ½ hrs of time for each day.
