Socio-Economic Development: MCRD Union Minister tours in Bago Region

Union Minister for Cooperatives and Rural Development U Hla Moe, together with concerned officials, visited Phong Kan Ward in Padaung Township of Bago Region on Saturday.

During the visit, they met members of the Shwe Oh Industrial and Handicraft Cooperative Association and local farmers.

The Union Minister heard reports on the association’s activities, monsoon paddy and winter crop cultivation, and local poultry and piggery. He also urged farmers to follow cultivation methods issued by the Department of Agriculture to achieve target yields and fulfilled the requirements of members and local farmers. He also inspected pottery products and the production and firing processes.

The Union Minster later met with the Township Agriculture and Livestock Cooperative members and local residents at Kan Hna Sint Monastery in Thae Kone Township.  They discussed regional development and cooperative-based agriculture and livestock farming.

The Union Minister later inspected the completed 5.6-furlong laterite paving and earthen expansion of Thaik War Chaung Village entrance road in Letpadan Township and reviewed the related requirements. He then visited the completed laterite paving on 3,960-feet manufacturing road in A Shae Su Village of Kun Chan Inn Village-tract, and instructed to cooperate for the regional development work to benefit farmers’ 500 acres of agricultural land and ensure the long-term sustainability of the projects.
