Social Security: Board holds national-level social security meeting

The Social Security Board under the Ministry of Labour held the national-level social security meeting on Monday at the Ministry.

In his address, Chairman of the Board Union Minister Dr. Pwint San said that the state, employers and employees jointly guarantee and provide social security and health care for workers, who are the nation's main productive force, to improve production and support the country's economic development.

In the current period, in accordance with the global changes, depending on the economic development of the country, the social security insurance systems should be expanded and implemented with IT system, the Union Minister added. The meeting continued with attendees making discussions on implementation of the decisions made in the previous meeting, plans and work processes.

The meeting also approved 6 issues to be decided and 34 orders to be recorded. Currently, the Social Security Board has been providing health care and financial benefits to 1.23 million insured workers in 119 townships.
