Social Protection: SWRR Union Minister inspects social welfare tasks

Union Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thet Thet Khine together with the Region Social Affairs Minister paid homage to Presiding Sayadaw of Gawthi Tarama Pati University Monastery, State Ovada Sariya Agga Maha Pandhita Buddhanta Pyin Nya Sami and donated robes and offertories to the Sayadaw on May 7.

Then, the Union Minister attended a ceremony to provide social pension to elders aged 85 and above and cash assistance to volunteer organizations as well as to present certificates of honour to volunteers who were taking part COVID-19 response and containment measures that was held at the city hall in Dawei.

At the event, the Union Minister discussed social protection, disaster management and rehabilitation processes being undertaken by the Ministry and implementation of Quick Win Project.

Later, Taninthayi Region Chief Minister U Myat Ko explained coordination for social protection and disaster management measures.

The Union Minister and officials then presented over 206 million kyats of social pension for 6,887 elders who are 85 years old and above in Taninthayi Region and over 22.9 million kyats cash assistance for Gayhas and guest houses that have been granted to establish to officials led by the Region Chief Minister.

The Region Chief Minister also presented certificates of honour to representatives of volunteer Organizations.

After that, the Union Minister and the Region Social Affairs Minister proceeded to the warehouse of the Region Social Department and Disaster Management Department Head offices and inspected storage of relief aids, materials used for regional development and donated items and keeping records of the warehouse.

The Union Minister and party then looked into school for Home Science in Dawei and coordinated essentials.
