Social Pension: Supporting to elderly people over 85 years of age

The Department of Social Welfare under the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement provides 10,000 kyats of social pension to the elderly people aged 85 years above per month and the provision is made every 3 month.

In the first quarter of the 2022-23 fiscal year, social pensions were provided to the elderly in various regions and states. And Department funded pensions to over 200,000 elderly people, starting from the last week of May to June 16th. 

Dr. San San Aye, DG, Department of Social Welfare said "We have received budget to support social pensions twice in 2022-2023fiscal year. In the first week of fiscal year, we received 7.6 billionkyats budgets and 5.8 billion kyats has been given to them. We will continue to support over 236,000 elderly people with above 85 years old in this 1st quarter. On the other hand, we can support only 50% in some areas and we cannot support in some due to local conditions. Also we have supported less than 50% in Kayah state and some areas of Sagaing region and Chin state has not been supported yet. "

Department of Social Welfare will support social pension from April to June for the 1st round and plan to support in August for the 2nd round.
