Soaring fuel prices drive demand for bioethanol conversions

Soaring fuel prices are driving increased demand for bioethanol conversion systems in Marseille. The electronic units allow petrol-powered vehicles to run on E85 bioethanol fuel.

Connected to the vehicle’s OBD port, the units communicate with the engine control system and configure it to use bioethanol. Lower E85 prices can help motorists recover the installation cost more quickly. The Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region also offers a 250-euro grant for eligible bioethanol conversions. A full tank of bioethanol costs about 25 to 30 euros, compared with more than twice that amount for regular petrol.
