Smooth Transportation: Gwa Chaung Bridge construction works completed

Construction of the Gwa Chaung Bridge connecting the Ayeyawaddy region and Rakhine state was completed and will be opened in December this year. The construction works of Gwa Chaung bridge started on the 18th of November 2019 – the Bridge is important for smooth and fast flow of local goods and development of tourism sector.

Kyaw Thuya, Deputy Director of Road Dept;, Ministry of Construction said "The Gwa Chaung Bridge connects the Ngayokekaung-NgweSaung-Chaungtha-ShweTaungYan-MagyiBin of Ayeyawddy Region to Gwa Township of Rakhine state. The Gwa Chaung Bridge will provide better access to education sector, health sector and socio-economy lives of local people with the transportation of local goods. Local products of Rakhine State will be able to flow quickly and easily across the country through the Ayeyawaddy Region. Also, people can easily travel to Ngwe Saung, Changtha and Ngapali beaches comfortably."

The Gwa Chaung Bridge was built at a cost of over 8.9 billion kyats and it is 1,398 feet and 9 inches long with the 24 feet of traffic lane and 3 feet and 6 inches of sidewalk on each side.
