A smoke haze from wildfires burning west of Sydney on Tuesday shrouded the city and surrounding areas. The city's harbour and skyline were barely seen as smoke from a wildfire burning in the Blue Mountains hung over the metropolitan area. There are about 120 fires, including 48 that are not contained, burning across the New South Wales state, local media reported.

Sydney and the surrounding areas have been engulfed in smoke haze for the past few weeks. Meanwhile, a wildfire survivor dumped the charred remains of her destroyed home outside the country's parliament in Canberra on Tuesday as part of a Greenpeace climate change protest.
