Sino-Myanmar media dialogue: Discussions focused on the cooperation

To commemorate the 75th Anniversary of China-Myanmar Diplomatic Relations, the Embassy of China in Myanmar hosted the Second Quarter 2025 China-Myanmar Media Dialogue on the afternoon of June 30, 2025, at the Crystal Tower in Yangon.

The meeting was attended by U Zeyar, Deputy Director-General of Media Development Department under Ministry of Information, Dr. Tin Tun Oo, Chairman of Myanmar Press Council, Counselor Dr. Zheng Zhihong and other officials from the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Liu Ming, Chairman of ICBC Bank's Myanmar Branch, and other bank officials, Invited Myanmar news media outlets and China-based media organizations operating in Myanmar.

Before the meeting officially began, attendees collectively visited and explored the ICBC Myanmar Branch and the Xinhua News Agency offices. At the start of the meeting, Counselor Dr. Zheng Zhihong delivered the opening remarks.

Following this, the Chairman and officials from the ICBC Bank Myanmar Branch discussed the strength of the Chinese currency (RMB) in the current international market and the crucial services provided by ICBC in China-Myanmar border trade.

Furthermore, a representative from Xinhua News Agency presented on the state-owned news agency's 94-year history, its extensive international news network, its swift coverage of the Mandalay earthquake relief efforts, and its ongoing advanced research initiatives.

Discussions continued with attendees emphasizing the need to expand cooperation between governments and peoples, enhance collaboration in socio-economic development and cultural sectors, and for the media sector to cooperate in ensuring the successful conduct of the upcoming elections.
