A signing ceremony for a memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise under the Ministry of Energy, and PTTEP International Ltd. to collaborate on the expansion of the output of the Yadana offshore project took place at the Ministry of Energy in Nay Pyi Taw on April 9.

First, the Union Minister for Energy, U Ko Ko Lwin, delivered an opening speech, stating that the Yadana offshore natural gas field, a project supported by the government, had experienced a decline in output rates. To address this, the Ministry of Energy and PTTEP International Ltd. worked together to enhance production rates.

The Union Minister expressed pride and satisfaction in the fact that they were able to finalize the agreement within a year and extended special thanks to the relevant ministries and departments as well as the staff of the Ministry of Energy and officials from PTTEP International Ltd. for their dedicated efforts.

He also acknowledged PTTEP's willingness to share with Myanmar the gas that Thailand would have otherwise received according to the contract, which was made possible by the reduced amount allocated to Thailand.

The Union Minister further expressed confidence that, in accordance with the signed agreement, the output of natural gas would increase within the stipulated time frame.

After the signing ceremony, the Union Minister and the team from PTTEP International Ltd., led by the Vice President, had a candid discussion about opportunities to further enhance bilateral cooperation in the energy sector between the two countries.
