shooting in Mexican Caribbean leaves 2 dead

Two men were shot dead and another was wounded at a luxury restaurant in a tourist area of the Mexican Caribbean. The attack took place on Saturday at kilometer 7 of the Tulum-Boca Paila Highway. The authorities did not indicate the nationalities of the victims. The shooting happened at a luxurious restaurant on the edge of the beach that also holds art exhibitions and shows.  

The violence has taken place despite presence of armed forces and the National Guard. It is the latest of several attacks that have occurred in recent months on the coast in the southeast of the country and that have caused concern among tourists and authorities. The shooting took place two days after a meeting between authorities from the state of Quintana Roo and security agencies from four countries.
