The Shenzhou-16 crew returned to the Earth after fulfilling a five-month mission and completing the in-orbit crew rotation with the newly arrived Shenzhou-17 crew.

The return capsule of the Shenzhou-16 manned spaceship touched the ground at the Dongfeng landing site in north China's Inner Mongolia on Tuesday. The spacecraft with the trio on board separated from China's space station combination on Monday.

The spaceship was launched atop a Long March-2F carrier rocket on May 30 from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.The Shenzhou-16 is the second flight mission of China's manned space program this year, and the first crewed mission after China's space station Tiangong entered the application and development stage.
