Several countries see more confirmed coronavirus cases

A number of countries affected by the novel coronavirus have lately seen confirmed cases going up, prompting additional precautionary measures. South Korea had reported 144 new confirmed cases in 24 hours by 16:00 Tuesday, raising the total number of infections to 977, while the total fatalities increased to 10.

The government has designated the city of Daegu and the North Gyeongsang Province as special management zones as close to 800 confirmed cases are from these two regions. Japan's total confirmed cases was at 853 as of 17:00 Tuesday.

On the same day, Iran's health ministry said the country now has 95 confirmed cases in total, 15 of which have resulted in fatality. Italy saw its confirmed cases going up to 283 on Tuesday, of which seven infected are deceased. The United States' Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Monday that the country now has 53 confirmed cases, 36 of which were brought back from the Diamond Princess.
