
On August 5, a stabbing incident occurred in Bahan Township, Yangon, where a woman named Daw San San Aye, aged 59 was killed, and a man, U Lat Khan Ayay aged 30, was injured. The incident happened near the car park of Myanmar Plaza when the two were returning to their home.
Two male suspects attacked them with knives and then fled the scene. Police opened a case at Bahan Police Station under Penal Code Sections 302/326/114 and began investigations. CCTV footage and vehicle records showed that the suspects arrived earlier in a Toyota Vitz and moved closer to the victim's car before carrying out the attack.
Further investigation led to the arrest of one suspect, Myat Thura Kyaw and his wife Ma Aye Su Ei San @ Baby on August 6 near the entrance of Amarapura Township, Mandalay Region. Myat Thura Kyaw allegedly owed money to Daw San San Aye and admitted to killing her due to financial problems.
Authorities are continuing their search for the second male suspect. Likewise, four men were arrested in Sintkai Township, Mandalay Region on August 8, for robbing a man of his motorcycle and gold ring. A 23-year-old man, Ko Thant Zin Phyo, was riding his motorcycle to pick up his grandmother when four unknown men attacked him on a rural road.
They knocked him off his motorcycle and stole his Honda Click Motorcycle which worth 7 million kyat and a gold ring which worth 1.05 million kyat. Security forces caught one suspect, Thet Paing Oo @ Paing Gyi, while he was attempting another robbery.
Following the lead, the remaining three suspects were also arrested. The suspects are being investigated under Sections 382/114 of the Penal Code at Sintkai Police Station, and further actions are underway to uncover more related crimes.
