Second Plenary Session: State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee meeting

The 9th 47-member State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee continued its second-day meeting of the second plenary session in the Maha Pasana Cave in Yangon on Saturday.

The meeting was attended by members of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee led by the Committee Chairman and the Minkyaung Pahtamapyan Monastery Sayadaw, Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin, and officials.

The Chairman Sayadaw presided over the meeting and Joint Secretary Sayadaw acted as the master of ceremonies. The activities of the 9th Sangha Nayaka Committee (second subcommittee) conducted during the first term were reported.

The meeting also discussed Vinicchaya, religious affairs and education-related matters.

During the meeting, 33 million kyat donated by the members of the State Sangha Maha Nayaka Committee led by the Chairman Sayadaw were presented to Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Tin Oo Lwin. The donated cash will be used for renovation of damaged pagodas and cetis, impacted by the powerful Mandalay earthquake.
