













Magway Region Chief Minister U Tint Lwin attended School Library Development and Reading Habit Promotion Campaign at Basic Education High School No. (1) in Taungdwingyi Township on Saturday. They then cut the ceremonial ribbon for event’s inauguration and presented cash rewards to the performing Pom Pom dance troupes.
They later toured commemorative and departmental art galleries, bookstores, local products and traditional pottery displays, as well as the Mytel Gallery by local artists and students. They also visited the photo booths of the Information and Public Relations Department, observed students taking part in physical fitness competitions, and presented nutritious food and gifts to the participants.
The event’s second part continued with the song performance of students, followed by the Chief Minister’s speech. The Chief Minister stressed the need to develop school libraries and promote reading habit as the most effective way to enrich knowledge, contributing to the development of a nation.
He urged the students to study good literature from a young age to build physical, mental, economic, moral and fraternal strengths and to share knowledge for a better society. After the students’ violin group performance, prizes were presented to the winners of the high school level impromptu talk, the middle school level painting and poster and the primary school level storytelling competitions, as well as to students who took part in the “Never Stop Learning” talk show, respectively.
The event also featured song performances by UAZL Private School, No. 1 Basic Education High School and No. 3 Basic Education Middle School. Over 3,000 students from basic education schools within township took part in the campaign.
