German Chancellor Olaf Scholz posed for photographs with his new Cabinet Friday in an icy Berlin after their first closed-door talks to discuss Germany's upcoming G-7 presidency, energy and climate change issues. Speaking in Berlin ahead of the meeting, Scholz said the coronavirus pandemic response would also be on the agenda.

On climate issues Scholz said Germany wants to form a 'climate club,' a group of industrialized nations that would jointly form plans and policies to tackle climate change.

Other topics to be discussed at the meeting include the plan to make Germany a climate-neutral industrialized country, improving the digital infrastructure and speeding up planning and approval processes, for example in housing construction.
