Sandstorms, snowfalls snarl traffic in northwest China

Sandstorms and snowfall have blanketed regions in northwest China since Saturday, and it’s leading to traffic congestion. Shaanxi's capital city of Xi'an and other cities in the province were covered in dust. Highways in Jiuquan City were temporarily closed and resulting in stranded vehicles.

As weather conditions improved on Sunday, traffic resumed on some roads, while efforts were underway to clear snow and ice on others. Another city Turpan in Xinjiang, local rescue teams were deployed to assist stranded individuals and vehicles amidst the sandstorms.
