SAC Chairman visits Russia: Visit to State University, Military Command School

Chairman of the State Administration Council [SAC] Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing during his visit to Russia left for Novosibirsk by a flight from Pulkovo International Airport of St. Petersburg accompanied by Myanmar Ambassador to the Russian Federation U Lwin Oo and Military Attaché Brig-Gen Moe Kyaw on Saturday and were seen off by officials of St. Petersburg.

On arrival at Novosibirsk, they were welcomed by the officials and the Senior General and party visited the Novosibirsk State University and were welcomed by Rector and officials concerned.

The rector and officials explained research works of science and technology subjects, findings in chemistry, physics, applied mathematics and information technology, biology and geology, prediction and discoveries through modern technology for future prospective conditions, lab research and classrooms.

After hearing the explanation, the Senior General raised questions on a series of matters. At the meeting hall of the university, the rector played the video file of the lecture section of the University and explained the university status, curriculum for postgraduates, dormitory and stadiums for students.

He also expressed the readiness to welcome Myanmar students. There, the Senior General discussed the criteria for selecting students and sending Myanmar military and civil trainees.

The Senior General and the rector also exchanged gifts, viewed round the campus and took commemorative photos. Novosibirsk State University is a private research university. The university was founded in 1958, on the principles of integration of education and science, early involvement of students with research activities and the engagement of leading scientists in its teaching programmes.

In 2022, Novosibirsk State University had 246th place in the rating of the Quacquarelli Symonds [QS] World University Rankings. The Senior General and party also visited the Higher Military Command School and were welcomed by the Principal Major-General Markochin Segeri Gregorivich.

There, they viewed the small arms simulator room, firearms and target engagement system developed by the Russian Army. In the evening, the Senior General and party attended the dinner party hosted by the Head of the Novosibirsk Government. The artistes performed traditional songs and dances during the dinner and the Senior General gave cash prizes to the performers.
