Every year on June 6, South Korea observes Memorial Day, a solemn public holiday dedicated to honoring the military personnel and civilians who sacrificed their lives for the nation—most notably during the Korean War (1950–1953) and other global conflicts.

The epicenter of these observances is the Seoul National Cemetery, where citizens, veterans, and government leaders gather to pay their respects. At exactly 10:00 AM, a siren sounds across the entire country for one minute. Thousands of families visit the Seoul National Cemetery  to lay white chrysanthemums, clean tombstones, and place small national flags beside the graves of their loved ones and fallen heroes.
