Russia and Iran are discussing the supply of Russian gas, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday at a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian. Putin discussed the potential supply volumes of up to 2 billion cubic meters in the beginning which could result in an annual gas supply to Iran of up to 55 billion cubic meters.

He also expressed possible areas of cooperation in the oil sector. Putin also noted that Russia is considering construction of new nuclear power units in Iran, and one unit is “operating successfully.” Pezeshkian said that both sides need to address certain technical issues at the moment.
