Rural electrification projects: Rural electrification projects implementing in 8 villages

Three new rural electrification projects-Mini-Grids have been implementing in eight villages in Tanintharyi Region and Ayeyarwady Region for the 2022-23 FY.

50% of the rural electrification projects have been completed in eight villages and spent 8 billion Kyats for three projects.

In the 2023-24 budget years, six new projects of mini grid and solar home system will be implemented.

The completion of the electrification projects will provide 1800 households. According to the Director of  Rural Electrification Division Dr. SoeSoeOhn, for mini grid implementing for eight villages in 2022-23 budget years, about 8 billion Kyats will be spent, the remained tasks will be continued and conduct public system for solar home.

As for Mini-Grid system, 6 projects for the electrification of about 1800 household are targeted. The estimated budget is about 10 billion Kyats. The projects will be implemented every year, it’s learnt. Rural electrification projects have been conducted since 2016-2017 and have been implemented for 450,000 households to access electricity. For the upcoming years, Mini-Grid system, solar home system and rural electrification projects will be proceeding.
