Rural Development: Discussion to Review Plans and Emerald Green Project

A discussion was held on Thursday to review rural development and Emerald Green Project. During the discussion in Nay Pyi Taw, Union Minister for Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation U Tin Htut Oo urged the attendees to make efforts to increase the personal income of the rural people so that purchasing power and manufacturing volume in the country will increase.

Regarding rural development projects, he called for care not to damage environment along with climate change reduction plans. The Union Minister stressed cooperation with authorities and relevant departments for emergency response to natural disasters.

Also, Deputy Minister Dr. Aung Gyi said that governmental employees have to perform their duty in line laws and by-laws without corruption and urged the attendees to create job opportunities based on small domestic businesses.

This meeting continued with discussions on the Emerald Green Project and plans as well as sector-wise cooperation for rural development. Currently, the Emerald Green Project covers 22 % of villages across the country, it’s learnt.
