Road Repairs: Renovation of damaged road section inspected

Union Minister for Construction U Myo Thant, accompanied by departmental officials, on Saturday inspected maintenance process along Mandalay-Pyin Oo Lwin-Lashio Road (Mandalay-Naung Cho road section) and new C 200 extra wide bailey bridge construction site.

The Union Minister and party visited the construction site of Gotwin Bridge on Pyin Oo Lwin-Naung Cho Road Section, and heard reports on damages of the bridge due to the terroist groups, construction process of temporary Bailey Bridge and working plans to construct the new one.  

Mandalay-Pyin Oo Lwin- Lashio Road is one of the main routes for commodity flow and on 14th July 2025, the bridge on the road section was damaged due to mines planted by terrorist groups. To provide transportation access, Myanmar Military Engineering Corps constructed 150 ft long temporary Bailey Bridge with the load resistance of up to 25 tonnes.

In order for more convenient and rapid commodity flow, 210 feet long, 24 feet wide new C200 Bailey Bridge is under construction, measuring with the load capacity of 50 tonnes. The officials are instructed for systematic clearance of debris and drainage system. At the Yadanabon Cyber City Project site, the Union Minister and party inspected the preservation of project area, implementation to construct fence and cleaning works.

The Union Minister and party also inspected the paving of new road from Mandalay-PyinOoLwin Road to the entrance of Central Fire Service Training Center, heard reports by the officials and coordinated the needs. Taking the motorcade on Yangon-Mandalay (Old Road) the Union Minister and party inspected the Earthen Shoulder expansion process along the road.

At Yuzana Bridge, the Union Minister and party inspected the renovation works of damaged section. 220 feet long Yuzana Bridge is currently under construction with the designs to withstand the earthquake.
