Rice Export: Myanmar plans to export million tons of rice

Ayeyarwaddy region is the main production area of rice for the country. While rice from Ayeyarwaddy region is being sold to local and international markets, over 75,000 tons of rice were exported to Europe and African countries, China and domestic markets in 2021-2022. Moreover, 957.5 acres of Sin Thu Kha good quality paddy were cultivated with systematic cultivation by using high-yielding quality seeds of the seed producer farmers.

In this season, it is planned to sell 150,000 to 200,000 tons of rice to Europe and African countries, China and other countries, 20,000 tons of rice to Bangladesh and 25,000 tons to domestic market.

By enhancing paddy cultivation in the country, numerous tons of rice will be able to export to international markets and more benefits will be obtained not only for the farmers but for the country, it’s learnt.
