Rice Distribution & Export: 2 rice warehouses in Yangon make handling

Regarding rice distribution and export in Yangon Region and from Yangon Region, there are WaTan and Bayint Naung Rice Warehouses in Yangon. Fine rice from Ayeyawaddy, Sagaing and Yangon regions are mostly transported to WaTan Rice Warehouse. Rice from Bago Region is transported to Bayint Naung Rice Warehouse.

Kyaw Ko San, Acting Chairman, Rice Warehouse (WaTan) said "There is regular rice inflow from Ayeyawaddy, Sagaing and Yangon regions to our WaTan Rice Warehouse. We make distribution to retail markets. Retail rice shops also come to us and purchase the rice due to unstable prices and concern about the rice shortage. But now, the price of rice is stable due to the regular arrival of rice and the regular demand."

Around 50,000 to 60,000 bags of rice arrive daily to WaTan Rice Warehouse. In the recent months, demand was high mostly on Monday and Tuesday.   

Kyaw Ko San, Acting Chairman, Rice Warehouse (WaTan) said "Myanmar Rice and Paddy Association has to manage the arrival of bags of rice and distribute based on the population in Yangon. We need at least 40,000 to 50,000 bags of rice every day."

Rice Warehouse (WaTan) is distributing rice for the local consumers while Bayint Naung rice warehouse is exporting abroad.
