Revitalization of Businesses: Meeting for development of MSMEs on hotels & tourism

The micro, small and medium enterprises are a driving force for the development of domestic economy of a nation and the hotels and tourism industry plays an important role for the development of these economic enterprises.

Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Dr. Htay Aung held meeting with executive members of hotels and tourism entrepreneurs in Nay Pyi Taw at Mingalar Thiri Hotel on Thursday. The Union Minister added that the government is carrying out for revitalizing the state’s economy from all corners and also wants to develop the hotel and tourism sectors.

The tourism industry is a smokeless industry and it needs to produce foodstuff and souvenir gifts with local products in accord with technology development. The traditional local food and products from States and Regions were displayed at the World Tourism Day 2022 Celebration and the Ministry needs to cooperate for boosting production of local food and products.

In order to revitalize the hotel and tourism industries affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, loans were also provided to some hotels and tourism businesses in Nay Pyi Taw for MSME enterprises. It needs to support more the MSME enterprises operated by the hotel and tourism entrepreneurs in Nay Pyi Taw in order to become more systematic and improved.

The Union Minister called for MSME development and beautifying and greening of Nay Pyi Taw in line with the characteristics of the city as Nay Pyi Taw is a place for holding exhibitions, meetings and state level ceremonies.

The Union Minsiter said that the Ministry will support and cooperate for the development of MSMEs on hotel and tourism industry in Nay Pyi Taw if necessary. Later, the hotels and tourism entrepreneurs discussed general affairs on which the Union Minister coordinated the needs.
