The State has been inviting those who are involved with various organizations, including the PDF that are armed and operating in opposition, to return to the legal fold, and has been providing necessary assistance and support to those who have returned. As a result, 11 members from the KIA/KPF terrorist group, who have come to understand the peace processes of the State and the Tatmadaw, have returned to the legal fold on October 13.
A ceremony was held at the local battalion headquarters in Putao, Kachin State, to welcome and receive these 11 members of the KIA/KPF terrorist group who returned to the legal fold and to hand them over to their parents/guardians. The event was attended by responsible officials from the North Command, relevant department officials, the returning members, and their parents/guardians.
First, an official from the Putao Battalion gave an explanatory talk regarding sections of the law related to regional stability, peace, and the rule of law. Subsequently, the responsible officials had the returnees sign pledges and then handed them back to their parents/guardians. Following this, the officials provided the returnees with support materials and carried out necessary assistance measures.
It has been learned that due to the welcoming reception, provision of necessary support, and systematic handover to parents/guardians for those who have returned to the legal fold, there are still individuals willing to return. Furthermore, it has been reported that if those wishing to return to the legal fold quickly contact the nearest military camps or police stations, they will be welcomed and received, provided with necessary assistance and support, and cash reward will be given for weapons/ammunition.
