Tatmadaw has successfully regained control of Hsipaw, a key town in northern Shan State, after a series of operations against TNLA insurgents. Following the earlier recapture of Kyaukme on October 1, Tatmadaw columns advanced and cleared 28 villages and strategic locations in 16 days, engaging in 28 encounters, including 7 major battles, and seizing weapons, ammunition, and enemy equipment.
As insurgents retreated, they attempted to destroy bridges including the Kyin Thi Bridge and burned down several government offices, public buildings, and homes in Hsipaw. Military engineers worked overnight to clear mines, repair damaged bridges, and restore transportation routes.
The Pyin Oo Lwin–Naungcho–Kyaukme–Hsipaw highway has now reopened for public and trade transportation. Local ethnic residents welcomed the troops, expressing relief and hope for peace. The Tatmadaw is now working to restore government administration, reopen schools and hospitals, and help displaced residents return home. People across the country have shown support by donating cash, foodstuff, and supplies to frontline troops.
