








On April 11, Deputy Prime Minister and Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo visited several railway sites damaged by the powerful earthquake that occurred on March 28.
The Union Minister, accompanied by officials from the Ministry and Myanma Railways, departed from Nay Pyi Taw on a special RBE train in the afternoon and arrived at Makyee Pin Station. There, they inspected the station’s damaged buildings and provided a temporary shelter and food supplies to the staff. They then visited the railway section between Nyaung Lunt and Nget Thaik Stations in Yamethin Township, where reinforcement work was underway using an Automatic Lining, Levelling and Tamping Machine (ALLTM). Food and supplies were also distributed to railway workers.
Inspections continued to Bridge No. 677, located between Thae Taw and Samone, which sustained earthquake damage. The Union Minister instructed to expedite necessary restoration work to ensure safe train passage. They then arrived at Samone Station, inspected the earthquake damage, and supported staff with temporary shelter and food supplies.
At Bridge No. 691 (Samone Bridge), which was affected by recent water erosion, the Union Minister instructed to carry out the all repair work, including riverbank protection and strengthening of piers and abutments, meeting the set standard and be completed before the rainy season.
They also inspected the section between Hanzar and Ywa Pale Stations, where the ALLTM machine was being used to strengthen the railway line. They later inspected damaged station buildings and control towers at Thazi Station Yard, which were destroyed by the earthquake.
In addition, 18 tarpaulin tents were provided for temporary station operations at several sites along the Nay Pyi Taw–Thazi, Thazi–Mandalay, and Thazi–Phaya Nga Su routes.
