Tourism Development: Meeting with staff and inspecting the restoration projects

Union Minister for Hotels, Tourism and Culture U Maung Myint on June 5, visited the Bagan Archaeological Museum and met officials from Department of Archaeology and National Museum.

He emphasized the importance of preserving cultural heritage while also promoting tourism. He said tourism should bring more visitors, longer stays, higher spending, and better international reputation, while ensuring ancient monuments are not damaged.

The Union Minister also inspected the restoration projects carried out with the help from India’s Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and China-Myanmar cooperation projects. He thanked the international teams for helping preserve Myanmar’s cultural heritage and encouraged continued cooperation.

The Union Minister also visited research excavation sites and stressed the importance of carefully studying and restoring ancient structures for the benefit of the country and its heritage.
